The Maverik Process
Iron Sharpens Iron...
"Iron sharpens iron...so one man sharpens the wits of another."
The old proverb is well known. Truth be told every person you come in contact will either sharpen you for good or for bad.
When I consider the greatest learning experiences that have influenced me the most...I would not find them in a classroom. When I surveyed the senior business students on their final semester, I asked them the question as to what experiences were of the greatest learning value for them? The response was field trips, business tours, mentor relationships, business case competitions and live-learn experiences where students lived together, studied together and did internships with businesses.
The classroom learning never was mentioned.
In a faculty meeting a professor made a comment that is troublesome. He said, "They are going to forget 80% of what we teach them." If the teachers of the system acknowledge the lack of "real learning" that goes on in their classroom and nothing changes then what does this have to say for the billions we spend on the education system. Are we wasting a ton of money not withstanding the time wasted and the opportunity for real learning squandered?
Iron sharpens iron....Real Learning, Real Change, Real Futures.
Maveriks do it differently, they see the world differently and therefore it would not surprise you that our process is different.
Maveriks Process;
1. Who am I?....Know Thyself
2. Where am I going? ...The Dream
3. How am I going to get there? ...The Sharpening Team
It is all very simple...but not very easy.
